You know the tension — one of you checks the account and quietly panics, the other makes a purchase without thinking twice, and neither of you has really talked about money since that one stressful night three months ago. Most couples don't fight about money — they fight around it. This challenge gives you a safe structure to finally face it together.

Your 7-Day
Journey

See exactly what happens — day by day.

You can't fix what you can't see. Today you get a clear, calm picture of where your money actually stands — together, without judgment.

Mini-task Sit down together with your bank app or a notepad. Write down: total monthly income, top 5 expenses, and current account balance. No analysis yet — just the numbers. 10 min

Your relationship with money started long before you met your partner. Today you share what money meant in your families growing up — and how that still shows up today.

Mini-task Each of you answers: "In my family growing up, money was ___." Share without debate. Listen to understand, not to fix. This unlocks a lot. 8 min

Every budget has a leak or two — small spending habits that add up without delivering real value. Today you identify yours together.

Mini-task Look at last month's bank statement together. Each of you picks one or two expenses you could reduce or cut without real sacrifice. Circle them. Agree on one change. 10 min

Money without a shared goal is just outflow. Today you define one thing you're both saving or working toward — even if it's small.

Mini-task Name one shared financial goal together: a trip, an emergency fund, a home upgrade, a debt to clear. Write it on paper with an approximate target amount and timeline. 8 min

A budget doesn't need to be a spreadsheet nightmare. Today you build the simplest version that actually helps you both feel in control.

Mini-task Divide your monthly income into three buckets: needs, wants, and savings/goals. Assign rough percentages together. Write it down. It doesn't have to be perfect. 10 min

One day of intentional no-spending shows you what's habit versus need. Today you both try it — together.

Mini-task Today: no non-essential purchases. If the urge comes, note what triggered it. In the evening, compare notes on what felt easy and what felt surprisingly hard. 7 min

Finances managed once a year create yearly crises. Today you agree on a simple monthly check-in ritual you'll actually do.

Mini-task Agree on a monthly money date: same day each month, 20 minutes, just the two of you. Write the date in your calendars right now. Decide what you'll review each time. 8 min

What You’ll Both Walk
Away With

Real results. Not just feelings.

💰

Financial Clarity Together

You both finally have a clear picture of where your money goes — and it's less scary when you're looking at it side by side. No more avoiding the numbers.

🎯

A Goal You're Both Working Toward

A shared financial goal changes how both of you make daily spending decisions. Suddenly every choice feels like it's either for or against something real.

🗓️

A Monthly Money Ritual

Finances reviewed monthly don't spiral. Your new check-in ritual keeps you aligned and catches small issues before they become big fights.

💞

Less Money Stress

When money stops being a topic you avoid and starts being one you navigate together, the stress drops dramatically. You're a team — and teams can handle a lot more than individuals.

Why This Works Better Than
Without Support

Doing It Alone
With CHAIVARA
× Money conversations get avoided until there's a crisis
A monthly ritual means you're always on the same page
× You each manage money differently and neither knows the full picture
One shared snapshot gives you both clarity and a starting point
× Savings goals stay vague and never happen
A named goal with a number and timeline actually gets worked toward
× Spending habits go unexamined because talking about it feels accusatory
You identify the leaks together — no blame, just shared problem-solving

Questions About
This Challenge

Not at all. This challenge works whether you have joint finances, separate accounts, or a mix. The goal is transparency and alignment between you two — how the accounts are structured is up to you.

That income difference is worth naming openly — and this week gives you a safe structure to do it. Many couples find that a proportional contribution model (each contributing a percentage of their income) feels fairer than a 50/50 split.

Especially relevant. Debt is one of the biggest sources of couple tension precisely because it's rarely talked about directly. This challenge helps you face the numbers together and agree on a plan, which removes a huge amount of the emotional weight.

Day 4 and Day 7 can be adapted to involve older kids (10+) in setting family financial goals. Giving children a small role in family financial decisions is a great way to teach money literacy and reduce the taboo around the topic.

This Is Made
for You Both If…

  • Money conversations in your household get avoided or turn into arguments
  • You don't have a clear shared picture of your finances
  • You want a shared financial goal but haven't found the right moment to set one
  • Financial stress is quietly affecting your relationship and day-to-day mood
