Set up a simple rule: if you're genuinely expecting something urgent, put the phone on a corner of the table face-down and only check if it rings. For everything else, it waits.
Teenagers respond to being treated as equal participants — the Day 1 pact gives them a say in the rules. When teens co-create the agreement, compliance goes up significantly.
Start with one meal — usually dinner. Once it feels natural, you can add breakfast or lunch. The challenge is designed around one daily meal so the commitment stays realistic.
If your schedules are different, commit to at least one shared meal per day where the pact applies. The challenge works even with a single daily overlap.
